# Router Solicitation

Router solicitations are [NDP](/glossary/n/ndp) discovery messages used by hosts to trigger [Router Advertisement](/glossary/r/router_advertisement) messages from connected
routers.

In [NDP](/glossary/n/ndp), Router Advertisement packets have the type `133`.
