# Trace

The **Tracing tool** view allows you to perform a [Traceroute Test](/glossary/t/traceroute) for a selected host.

## Traceroute Test

To perform a tracroute test against an endpoint:

* Enter a valid [hostname](/glossary/h/hostname) or [IP address](/glossary/i/ip_address) in the **Host to trace** box

* Click **Trace**

The result of the trace is shown below the utility.

#### Example:

**Trace results:**
