What is iopsys

Iopsys takes the OpenWRT build system and adds it own packages and targets to handle the closed source architecture of the different chip vendors. Iopsys enables other chip vendors closed SDK’s to be integrated into the open architecture of OpenWRT.

Iopsys tries to ease software management for an operator. Instead of trying to maintain several static firmware skews , iopsys provides a dynamic software that can run the same user space applications on several different SOC's. This enable developers and isp's to have a framework to build application without having to create a complete firmware image and distribution around it.

By doing this Iopsys helps to bridge the gap between the power of open source and the closed source development of the chip vendors and giving operators the opportunity to get one software to run on several different SOC:s.

In addition it enables the operator to a large extent take control of the deployed software, either in house, or through partners. Iopsys OS becomes the Service Delivery Platform of the operator.

Iopsys enables an ISP to be able to launch the latest features from the chip vendors and to be able to have a cutting edge portfolio but still retain the power of open source.
